David Patrick Dorrian
September 11, 2020
David Patrick Dorrian, 57, passed away on September 11, 2020.
David is survived by his parents, John and Carolyn Dorrian; his wife, Shannon Dorrian; his children, Jordan (Kaity) and Amber Dorrian; grandchildren, Joselyn, Jemma and Jianna Dorrian; and his dog and best friend, Capone.
David was born on November 6, 1962 in Des Moines, Iowa to John and Carolyn (Spoon) Dorrian, the oldest of three children. Dave graduated from North High School in 1980 and went on to work in the Local 33 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union for 33 years.
David married his beloved wife, Shannon (Leatherby) Dorrian on September 18, 1993. Together they raised their two children, Jordan and Amber.
Dave’s talents were many. He was an extremely accomplished steamfitter, but he was also a jack of all trades and could fix almost anything. He would take an engine or piece of machinery apart just to teach himself how to put it together. For many years Dave was passionate about riding motorcycles and going to races. However, nothing brought Dave more joy than spending time with his family. He helped to train and coach his kids in Taekwondo, and attended every practice and game of any sport they played. He was their biggest fan.
When Dave became a grandpa it brought a whole new light into his life. There wasn’t anything papa wouldn’t do to keep them entertained! He would spend hours playing and teaching them new things. Dave will be forever missed by all who knew him best.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom Sr. and Helen Dorrian, Carol and Gladys Spoon; and his grandson, Jameson Dorrian.

I met David 52 years ago and I am 57 now, so we were just little tikes running up and down Douglas Ave. I have such fond memories of my childhood with David. My thoughts and prayers go out to you John and Carolyn and all of Davids family at this difficult time.
