Larry E. Biagioni, 56, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Larry was born on June 3, 1952 in Spring Valley, IL. He served in the Illinois Air National Guard for 27 years, retiring as Chief Master Sargent, 182nd Medical Squadron. Larry worked as Director of IT Infrastructure at Maytag for 32 years. He recently worked as a Manager at CDS Global.
Larry loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, boating, gardening and riding his Harley. He was an avid Duck Hunter. Larry was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Linda; his daughters, Heidi Biagioni, Holly (Jess) Solinger; his two grandchildren, Austin and Lyric Harris; his father Aldo Biagioni; his sister, Linda (Otis) Christy; and brother, Don (Sheila) Biagioni; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Special friends, the Donaldsons, Jacksons, Haenischs, Bibos and Howard Buck. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline.
Visitation will be held at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009. There will also be a visitation 12-3 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009, at Barto Funeral Home, 120 W. Cleveland, Spring Valley, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to either Powell 3 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center or to the John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Larry's family would like to thank Dr. Verhofste and his nurses at the Iowa Heart Center, Dr. Shreck and his oncology nurses, Dr. Triantafyllas and his staff, Dr. George Lederhaas, Dr. Harvey, Dr. Verma, the staff at Powell 3, CCU staff at Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Laura Smith, RN of Iowa Health Home Care Services for their excellent care of Larry throughout his illness.
