Cecil Richard McVey, 95, passed away on September 4, 2020 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny.
Cecil was born January 19, 1925 to Herman and Gladys (Clayton) McVey in Oakland, Iowa. He proudly served for the U.S. Army during World War II and was a former POW.
Cecil is survived by his children, Richard McVey, Linda Marcum, and Susan Whitney; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores McVey; siblings, Gordon McVey, Deloris Foshe, and Vera Fox.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 314 E Army Post Road. Cecil will be laid to rest with military honors at Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines.
