James Monahan

James Joseph “Jimmy” Monahan, Jr., 91, passed away on August 21, 2020 in Altoona, Iowa. He was born February 20, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio to James and Dora (Mahley) Monahan.
Jimmy married Flora Rickards on May 5, 1951 in Columbus. He retired after 35 years from ConAgra. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and rooting hard for the Ohio State Buckeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. Jimmy was a member of the Marshalltown Kiwanis and the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Flo; son, Doug Monahan; grandchildren, Sydney (Erin) Dunn, Samantha, Skylar and Saydie Monahan; great-grandchildren, Talon and Isabelle Dunn; and nephew, Patrick Monahan.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his siblings, Tom, Mick, Bill, Alice, Dort, Peg and Kathlein; and his parents.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to Prairie Vista Village in Altoona or Suncrest Hospice.
