Service Details

Thomas P. Tenney, of Des Moines, IA, died May 29, 2009 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2009 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 5 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m.
Thomas was born November 17, 1947, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Ruth (Tenney) Tidball and Phillip H. Tenney. He served in the U.S. Army as military police during the Vietnam War. Tom continued service to his Country as a member of the Iowa National Guard, 1/194th U.S. Cavalry. After being discharged from the service, Tom started his career selling pots and pans all the way to forklifts. Later he was able to pursue his passion and become a professional photographer.
He is survived by his wife, Jill; Meridith, daughter of Shari Tenney and Thomas; Kimberly (Kent) Brunner, Margaret (Gary) Jensen and, Tom Kublie, daughters and son of Diane (Tenney) Stewart and Thomas; mother, Ruth Tidball; brother, Phil Tenney; and sister, Pam Bentzinger; and Tolstoy, Leo, and Tasha, loyal companions of Carolyn (Tenney) Rogers and Thomas; and six grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Phillip H. Tenney; stepfather, John Tidball; and infant granddaughter, Alexandra Brunner.
Memorial contributions may be directed towards the Animal Life Line, Animal Rescue League, or the Rush Limbaugh Organization for Families of Returning Soldiers, in loving memory of Thomas Tenney.
