Forrest Houseman, Jr.

Forrest W. Houseman, Jr., 83, died peacefully Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at home. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines, with burial at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny.
Forrest was born November 1, 1925 to Forrest and Elizabeth Houseman, Sr. He retired from the DOT, Marquesville Station in 1987 and then went on to work as a night watchman for Platinum Motors until retiring due to health last year. He loved to spend time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.
Forrest is survived by his children: Alice (Alan) Steinbach of Des Moines, Liz (Rick) Bailey of Daytona Beach, FL, Janet Rathbun of Daytona Beach, FL, Kathy (Kenneth) Schoenhard of Rapid City, SD, and Max (Paulette) Darrah of South Bend, IN; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his two sisters: Joanne Brewington of St. Charles, IA, and Joyce Whipple of Hallsville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Ruby Houseman.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at the funeral home.
