Kimberlee Irene Dowell
May 25, 2009
Kim was born on July 12, 1956 at the Naval Hospital in Corona, California to Jacqueline Jean Jones and Larry John Dowell Sr., both of Des Moines, Iowa.
Kim graduated from Ruby Van Meter in 1977, and lived in Des Moines her entire life. The Lord took her home on May 25, 2009.
Kim loved life and lived it to the fullest. Throughout the years, she was employed at the Olive Garden Restaurant, Meals on Wheels, and In the Bag catering. She rode horses, enjoyed bowling, swimming, singing, dancing, going to church and participated for many years in Special Olympics. Most of all she loved people and was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends. She called every get-together "a party" and that made her smile.
Kim was preceded in death by her father, Larry Dowell Sr.; brother, Mark Wayne Dowell; grandparents, Horace and Eva Dowell and George Jr. and Wanda Jones. She is survived by her mother, Jacqueline (Greg) Harwood of Altoona; brothers, Larry Dowell Jr., Jeff Dowell, Jimmy Dowell and Jorge Harwood; sisters, Diane Bishop Ewing and Dawn Foster; many nieces, nephews, cousins and her Mosaic friends, especially Jackie, Tammy and Beth.

Kimberlee was always such a pleasure to care for at The Des Moines Hearing & Speech Center and ChildServe. Her pleasant disposition and fun attitude always made working with her a real treat. She would make me laugh even on days that had been previously difficult. Often we would tease each other to get a smile out of the other. I was very sorry to read of her passing in the paper. I know that she is making God smile right now. I'm so sorry for your loss. Know that she will be missed at ChildServe, and more specifically she will be missed by myself. Doctors aren't supposed to have favorites, but to be honest, Kimberlee was one of mine. Please be comforted at knowing she knew how much you loved her, and how great she is doing now. My most humble condolences.
