Service Details
Funeral services for Cynthia, who passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009, will be held at 9 a.m. Friday May 29, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Cynthia was born December 19, 1962 to Ronald and Diana Darge in Des Moines. She graduated from East High School and received her BS in Education from Drake University, and continued further graduate studies at Drake University. Cynthia was a talented educator who had a passion for her vocation and her students. She taught over twenty years at Hiatt Middle School. Cynthia enjoyed many forms of art including music and photography.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Tony Cort; parents, Ronald and Diana Darge; sisters, Rebecca and Denny Christensen and Deborah Darge; nieces and nephews, Abigail, Benjamin, Jamie, Jake, Jadi, Nikki, Allie, Austin, Anna, and Max; much extended family in Michigan; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Shirley Bessinger; and maternal grandparents, Alfred and Bertha Icheldinger.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family.

Dear Tony,
I just wanted to let you know how incredibly sorry I am to hear of your loss. I know I have not seen you in years since "softball days" but I wish you comfort and peace during this turbolent times. May God wrap his loving arms around you and her family to get you through these next few difficult months.Take care and I really am extremely saddened by this unexpected grief all of you must be experiencing.God bless!

Words cannot even express the deep grieve you must be going through right now.
There is nothing worse than to lose a child and in such a tragic way makes it even more difficult.
I pray that you will take advantage of all the support available to you through friends, family and grief groups.
I am sorry that I didn't know about Cynthia's death in time to come to the visitation to personally pay my respects and give you my love.
Also, I have clients scheduled in the morning and cannot make the funeral.
My prayers and God's peace will be with you.

Cindy was a great friend to myself and Luann Williams from elementary school
and through Wilson Jr High. I remember us girls walking to school together
and doing silly girl things. She was also there for me and leading me to church with her at a time in my life that I needed that support. I will never forget our Youth Group trips and all the fun that lead up to them with the fundraising we did. It comes to me as no surprise that she became a teacher since she was leading me as a child, and this area would suit her perfectly. I am sad that life got in the way and over the years I lost contact with her. I know that one day I will see her again but as you know that day seems so far off. My heart goes out to your family at this sad time but I know your faith will see you through. My prayers are with you all. Missy Freeman

Words cannot even express how sorry our family is to hear of her passing. She was a fantastic teacher with an enormous heart. She will be missed, deeply. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She had a beautiful smile, a helping hand, and she played a great tambourine. :) Cindy, we are missing you so much.
