James "Jim" E. Payne

James Eugene Payne, 62, passed away on August 18, 2020. James (Jim) was born January 15, 1958, in Des Moines, Iowa to Eugene and Sueanne Payne. He spent much of his life in Runnells, Iowa before moving to the Des Moines area. Jim graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1976 and worked at several places in the Des Moines area operating heavy equipment.

Jim was thoughtful, sensitive and sweet, but crazy too! He loved his family and had the biggest sweet tooth; he was best at finding deals on food (candy). Jim was drawn to the down-and-outters and helping those in need. He spent his younger years with horses and he was always tinkering with cars.

Jim is survived by his sister, Judy (Steve) Miller; brothers, Brian (Donna) Price and John Price. He enjoyed spending time with his 8 nieces and nephews, 4 great-nieces, 4 great-nephews, and 2 great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Sueanne as well as a great-niece.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020, at Berwick Cemetery.
