William Howard Cooley

William Cooley, age 72, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 11, 2020. William was born on September 21, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa.

William worked in medical supplies throughout his life primarily at Des Moines General Hospital until his retirement. Some of his hobbies and interests included his love for cooking, baking and traveling. He especially enjoyed family gatherings for special occasions. Above all, he loved Christ and welcomed all opportunities to attend church.

He is lovingly survived by his sisters, Marvella C. Mure, Luelle M. (Paul) Teal, and Berniece Byrd; and a host of nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, James & Viola Cooley; grandparents, James and Estella Overton and Harper and Belle Cooley; brothers, Donald, Robert “Bobby”, Abraham "Chubby", Carl "Butchie", Jack, Richard, Martin, James and Jerry Cooley; and sister, Wanda Mae Johnson.

The family respectfully requests the wearing of masks and social distancing with no physical contact due to covid. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
