Barbara Jean Rominger, 90, passed away on August 9, 2020. She was born March 10, 1930 in Blakesburg, IA to Vern and Alma (Doty) Schoech.
Barb and James made their lifelong commitment in 1946. Barb was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Barb could always put on the best events, she was truly an equal partner in James’s success in both business & life. She was also a skilled Rummy, Yahtzee & Scrabble player and taught all her children and grandchildren how to lose at those games. She loved to read & travel to visit family. She made some bucket list trips to Switzerland & Aruba before Alzheimer’s robbed her of her memories.
She is survived by her children, Larry Rominger, Cindy Rominger and Sheri Rominger; grandchildren, Amy (Alan) Trubow, Jason (Keri Jo) Rominger, Carolyn (Brian) Cardwell, Jodi Rominger, Ginny (Joey) Koubek, Joshua Rusk and Rusty Hutchison; 16 great-grandchildren, Bailee Cardwell, Michael Mason, Stella Koubek, Andrew Mason, Cailyn Knight, Jason Rominger, Sophia Koubek, Colyn Knight, Bristol Cardwell, James Rominger, Rilee Hutchison, Lorlye Rominger, Tucker Cardwell, Graydon Rusk, Kinzley Knight, and Beckett Rusk; sister, Susan (Dick) Ketcham; and daughter-in-law, Susie Rominger.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James; son, Mike; grandchildren, Todd Rominger and Clayton Knight; sisters, Patricia Yochum and Lois Sullivan; and her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St. SW, Altoona. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. The family respectfully requests all guests to wear masks and practice social distancing. Burial will follow services at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of Barbara.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Barb was such a wonderful lady and I will never forget the wonderful memories I have of her and JC. They were both so special to our family.

Sending our sympathy to Barb's family. We have so many fond memories of this special lady. She was so special to us for so many years and certainly taught us so much about life and loving. So sorry to hear of Aunt Barbara's passing. I have such fond memories of travelling to meet extended family when i was growing up. We all have great memories of meeting up at lake Wapello in the summer.
