Ramona (Westrum) Campbell
August 03, 2020
Ramona Ellen (Westrum) Campbell, 87, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2020. Ramona was born July 6, 1933, in Webster City, Iowa to Eldon and Ethel (Brown) Westrum.
Ramona is survived by her husband, Earl, of Ankeny, IA, her sons David (Anita), of Saylor Township, IA, Richard, of Des Moines, and James (Cheri), of Bishop Hill, IL her sister Mary Jane (Phil) Delavan, of Cedar Park, TX, 12 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 am with a memorial service at 11:00 am and luncheon to follow. The family respectfully asks guests to wear masks and practice social distancing. The service will be available via livestream on her obituary at the Hamilton’s website.
Growing up, Ramona was a very committed student and graduated from Stratford High School. She married Earl, her husband of 71 years, in 1949, and, soon after, committed her life as a devoted mother to her three boys.
She was a faithful employee of Infant Set (Eldora, IA) from 1961 to 1965 and Leiserowitz (Des Moines, IA) from 1965 to 1991.
Earl and Ramona spent 19 winters in Alamo and Rockport, TX and she touched the lives of everyone wherever she went.
Ramona was dedicated to card making and would create special, personalized birthday and anniversary cards for family and friends. She was active for many years with her water aerobics class and active in the United Methodist Church.
Her loving, caring spirit, and her room-filling smile will be remembered by all who knew her. Babies were a magnet for her-they loved her and she LOVED them.
However, her greatest love and commitment of time was always for her family. She loved to shower her loved ones with hugs and “smooches” whenever she could. Those cards, hugs and kisses will be missed.
Ramona was preceded in death by her brother, Jonas (Westrum), her sister, Nancy (Smith), and her parents, Eldon and Ethel.
Contributions may be made in her memory to the Campbell family for use at a later date for a yet to be determined memorial. Cards and gifts can be mailed to Earl Campbell and Family, 1201 SE Mill Pond Court #4221, Ankeny, IA 50021.
The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the staff and nurses of MercyOne Medical Center, the staff at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, and the staff and residents of Mill Pond.

Our Dearest Earl and Family, Our hearts were broken with the sad news, and then upon reflection...how privileged we are to have shared those very special times with Ramona so filled with God's favors and grace. We celebrate a friendship of "Every day Good" and "Sunshine" that knew no boundaries. The much revered family quilt when draped over shoulder or swaddled , offers warmth and confidence to rid the chill of life's uncertainties. Each swatch or patch is carefully chosen by the quilter for a purpose and/or memory. The Family Quilt then becomes an atlas of life's most significant memories. Each of the many patches of Remona's quilt, loving siblings, wife, mother, grand, great grand, great, great grandmother, and a host of other dear family members and close friends are so privileged to be honored by the good humor, grace, and love that accompanied each and every patch of Ramona's Great Quilt. God Please Bless and be with All. We are grateful to have shared a swatch with Ramona, so beautiful, devoted and so very a special human being. Lovingly Loralee and Bill

A few water lovers & swimmers here at Mill Pond went to the pool at Walnut Ridge in DESMOINES on the 2nd &
4TH Mondays of each month for several years
Before the Pandemic.
We jokingly called ourselves the: "MillPond
Olympic Swim Team".
We were training to earn a
Place on the next Olympic
World event. We always announced ourselves as we entered the Walnut Ridge Lobby. Romona was always there with us.
I always enjoyed seeing her as she enjoyed our 35+ - " in those WARM pool waters. You will be missed
Romona Campbell.
There will be some WARM water pools to enjoy in Heaven.
