Leroy Smith, 69, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at his home. Memorial services will be held Monday, May 18, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. from Hamilton’s Funeral Home 605 Lyon Street.
Leroy was born June 3, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa to Herbert and Loretta (Meister) Smith. Leroy retired from the DSM public school system.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughter, Kristine Smith; sons, Richard Smith, Herbert and Michelle Smith , Steven and Kimberly Smith, Tony and Mandi Smith; 17 grandchildren, Randy, Helen, Bethany, Jon, Jacob, Calleen, Tiffany, Manny, Kayla, Precious, Destiny, Joseph, Haley, Joshua, Alexis, Andrea, Aaron and 13 great grandchildren, Autumn, Raven, Camryn, Icesis, Cy, True, Jayden, Kaitlyn, Kaylee, Sonia, Synthia, Kyla and Baby K; sister, Dorothy Campbell; brothers, Ralph and George Smith. He is also survived by many family members and friends.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Leroy.

I worked with Leroy for many years in the schools and he was my night boss and
he was such a good friend to me and also to my husband Thomas. May God bless you Leroy and you will be missed!

I just learned of Leroys passing. I wanted to send a message to you letting you all know how very sorry I am for your loss. You are in my prayers.

I remember LeRoy from the Bus Garage. I worked there once with my sister Dianna Anderson and her ex-husband Chuck Fisher. He was a very sweet and generous man and will be missed by all that knew him. I would like to extend my prayer's to his family at this time.
