Michael K. Belken, 60, passed away at his home on August 1, 2020.
Michael was born November 4, 1959 in Des Moines to Harold and LaVera “Nadine” (Wade) Belken. He was a lifelong Des Moines resident and worked for Polk County most of his adult life. Michael was a Mason. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Michael also enjoyed jeeping and off-roading. He loved his dogs. Michael was a quiet man who kept to himself and treasured his few close friendships.
Michael is survived by his siblings, George (Jan) Belken, Jeannine (Michael) McDaniel and Judy Belken; nieces, Kimberly, Kirstin and Katherine Belken and Marissa and Mallory Huff; great-nieces and great-nephews, Nora, Porter, Everly and Jude; good friend, Dusty Hawthorne; as well as a host of other loving relatives and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm Monday, August 10, 2020 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Harold and Nadine Belken Scholarship at the DMACC Foundation.

I'm so sorry to hear about Mike. I liked him a lot, and I know his dad and mom loved him very much. My condolences to George, Jeannie, and Judy.I'm sure you will miss him.

Sorry to hear about Mike's passing. I worked with him at Supp Foods for many years. He was always nice to me and we had a lot of fun. May he rest in peace.
