Phyllis Brown

Phyllis Brown, 88, passed Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Bright Kavanagh House. Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday at Morningstar Baptist Church, 3200 Lincoln Avenue. Visitation will be two hours before service.
Phyllis, born August 15, 1920 in Vicksburg, MS., was employed at Drake University, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority House and Equitable Life; retiring from IA Lutheran Hospital. After retirement she worked with the Foster Grandparents program.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Rose Campbell and Marlene Hall-Carter; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; her siblings, Melinda Carmeron and Leona Burnett, Grace Burnett; Preceded in death by her parents, Henry Burnett Sr., and Myra (Savage) Burnett, by her children, Johnny Brown Jr., George Haynes Jr., Darlene Avant, and Harry Bailey; by her siblings, Henry Burnett Jr., Lubertha Barnes, Grant, James Burnett.
