Carolyn Fonza, 63, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Carolyn was born September 25, 1945 in Des Moines to Halle and Blossom Fonza. She worked as a chef, at Holiday Inn, Stoffers, Ramada Inn and the Drake University cafeteria, a paralegal and most recently with AARP. She enjoyed reading and was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt and sister. Carolyn will be remembered for her love, devotion and dedication to her family, friends and her church.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Anthony Mure, Troy Mure, Herman Lee Mure, Jr., Trent (Tammy) Mure and Marvin McCuller; mother, Blossom Fonza; sisters, Mary Hobbs and Lolita McCallister; brothers, Milford and Elmer Fonza; 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Halle Fonza; son, Tracy Mure; sister, Annetta Woolery; and brother, Bobby Fonza.

Carolyn was always a fun loving person who I thought was beautiful inside and out. Its always hard to hear of someone you have known for a long time but have lost touch with passing away. My prayers and thoughts are with the Fonza Family as you grieve her loss.

I loved miss Carolyn so much. I havent seen or spoke to her and years and just found out a few moments ago about her passing. I am so sorry to all of the family and will keep you all in my prayers.

Everybody knows how close my mom (Tina Martizna) and Carolyn were. I loved Carolyn so very much and I will miss her greatly. Carolyn was a wonderful human being here on earth, and will be an even better angel in heaven. Love to all of you and my you find peace in your hearts and souls.

Carolyn was the first friend I made in 7th grade at Amos Hiatt. We shared a lifelong friendship. She will be missed and remembered. Please accept our condolences at this most difficult time.
