Dr. Robert E. Morin

Robert E. Morin, 82, died May 6, 2009 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Bob was born November 8, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Ruth and Aime Morin.
He served in the Navy from 1945 to 1946. Upon his honorable discharge he attended Northwestern where he performed his graduate and undergraduate work. While attending Northwestern he met the love of his life, Catherine Myers, who would be his wife for the next 60 years.
After graduation from Northwestern he then went on to receive his PhD from the University of Wisconsin. Bob has held the title of professor at many institutions; University of Arizona, University of Texas, Kent State and University of Northern Iowa. He served as Dean of the College of Business and Behavioral Sciences at UNI for many years. While at UNI, Bob created the Academic Scholarship Program for Social and Behavioral Sciences. These two and four year scholarships reward students who may have never had the opportunity to attend college.
Bob was very active in the Cedar Falls Rotary Club and the Rotaract for many years. He enjoyed UNI sports, working with UNI students, traveling, photography, golf, and the Chicago Cubs. Above all, Bob loved spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by; his loving wife Cathy; daughter, Patty (Denny) Bole; son, Mark Morin and his fiancé Jewel Doig; his grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew and Leah. He was preceded in death by his parents.
