Betty (Hayslip) Leonard

Betty (Hayslip) Leonard passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009. She was born to Clarence and Alice (Young) Hayslip on January 12, 1920 in Brerton, IL. She married Deane C. Leonard on June 21, 1941 in Glasford, IL.
She was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. during World War II and later retired from the State of Illinois Department of Employment Security on December 31, 1986.
Betty loved to sing and was a 30 year member of Belles of Harmony Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her many friends and the Florida vacations and cruises after her retirement. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Peoria after moving to the city in 1959.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Rick) Yeager of West Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren, Robert (Ginny) Yeager of Memphis, TN and Merrit (Bryan) Schultz of Norfolk, VA and great-grandchild, Karl Schultz.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Peoria, 411 West Lake Ave., Peoria, IL with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford.
