Jerry A. Lawless was born September 6, 1961 in Des Moines, and passed from this life May 4, 2009 in Des Moines leaving behind his beloved wife of 29 years, Janice, cherished daughter Whitney and son-in-law Arthur Stodden, E4 specialist US Army in Fort Bragg, NC and granddaughter Hailey who was the light of his life.
Survivors also include his parents Jerry J. and Sharon Lawless of Des Moines; his father-in-law Harold Martin of Des Moines; his brother Greg Lawless and fiancé Kristan of Lake Geneva, WI; his sister Stephanie (Gerard) Russo of St. Louis, MO; his sister-in-law Joyce (Tony) Trout of Des Moines as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Jan Martin. Jerry will be greatly missed.
Jerry was a caring and generous man as well as a gourmet chef. He was an avid Iowa football fan and kept track of all the teams, scores and players. He was fortunate to love his job as an application system engineer at Wells Fargo and all his co workers and bosses as well.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Friday, May 8, 2009, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with burial following at Avon Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening May 7, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines.

I am so sorry to here of Bud passing. It was a shock to me when I found out. He was a really cool guy. Known him sice I was little cause of my dad. My dad and Bud were like best friends. There sure are some good memory that we have together and wont be forgotten. To Jan and WHitney it may seem like GOD is letting you down right now but it will get better. Trust me. Know kinda what your going through since I just lost my brother.

Dear Ms. Janice,
I was deeply shocked and immensely saddened to hear about the sudden demise of Jerry. He was a dear friend, a caring individual and a wonderful man. I was fortunate to have gotten to know him and to have been able to work along side of him. I've always enjoyed hearing your stories of him. I still remember the twinkle in his eyes when he told me that story about how you two met and the proudness in his voice, when he mentioned that he married you when he was just 18. It was obvious to all what a beautiful marriage and friendship the two of you shared. I cannot imagine the heartache you must feel right now. Please know that you and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Kindly let me know if there is anything that I can do that will help you to lessen the pain and grief. Please remember, Jerry will be always missed, I pray to God to give you enough strength and courage at this difficult moment.

Our deepest sympathy - we think of all of you often. We have so many happy memories of the times we spent with Jan and Harold. Jan was so proud of her daughters, son in laws and grandchildren. She often said that Janice was well cared for and loved by Jerry. We pray God will be with you and give you courage in the days ahead. Memories of those we love live on in our hearts forever.

Jan & Whitney - I was so shocked when I heard the news. Jerry was a very special person. His family was always his first priority and he just lite up whenever he talked about you both. I feel blessed having the opportunity to known Jerry. It is a very sad time, but remember all of the great memories. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless!

I did not get to meet your son, but I know he must of been a great guy. I know we have had our conversations at Curves and I know how much he was loved. Just read all of these messages on here, and it is very clear. I know I will meet him in a different place someday. May the peace of the Lord be with the Lawless family during this difficult time. Please know that no words can adequately express my heartfelt sadness at the passing of this good man. Jerry was a valued member of the Wells Fargo team and he will be greatly missed but remembered.
May the faith you have see you through these difficult times and know that Jerry has been welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. May the love of God, family and friends comfort you and give you strength in the days ahead.

Jan and Whitney - I know words can not express your sadness and loss of a very good husband, father, and grandfather. Jerry always had his priorities in line - his family and his faith was number one in his life.
Jerry was also a great friend and co-worker. He was a very kind and gentle human being. I feel priviledged to have known him.
I hope some comfort can be found in knowing that Jerry is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is in a much better place now and our hope is that we can be with him again in eternal peace and happiness.
