Fern Watts

Fern M. Watts, 88, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church, 511 Des Moines St., with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Fern was born March 8, 1921 in Jewell, Iowa to Rasmus and Gudrun Jegtevig. She graduated from Jewell High School, attended Webster City Junior College and graduated from American Institute of Business. Fern moved to Des Moines in 1945 and worked at the Des Moines Ordnance Plant, Cowles Communications and retired from the American Republic Insurance Co. She was a member of Capitol Hill Lutheran Church and Sons of Norway. Fern enjoyed reading, quilting, crocheting and spending time with her family.
Fern is survived by her daughter, Gwen Losee; granddaughter, De Anne Nall; great-grandchildren, Emily and Ryan Nall; sisters, Constance Wicks and Anna Tidwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Watts; sisters, Oriet Johnson and Ruth Jegtevig and her parents.
