Shirley A. Opel

Shirley A. Opel, 86, died May 1, 2009 at Luther Park Trinity Center. Her body has been cremated and memorial services will be held at a later date with a private family burial at Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Opel was born May 26, 1922 in Des Moines to Shelby and Lola Funk. She was a graduate of East High School. Shirley married Gordon Opel on November 21, 1942. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband and two daughters, all of Des Moines. She is also survived by two grandsons and numerous other extended relatives. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
