Diana K. Lloyd was born February 10, 1944 in Centerville, IA. She passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
Diana had resided in Des Moines for almost 60 years. She retired from the State of Iowa as a Job Placement Specialist after over 28 years of service. After retirement, Diana and her husband moved to Atlanta, GA. She was a member of Maple Street Baptist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church in McDonaugh, GA. Diana will be remembered as a woman who dedicated her life to serving others.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Melvin; children, Sherrie Sauls, Michael Davis and Madison DeShay; step-son, Eric Lloyd; sisters, Penny King, Bonnie Beechum and LeeAnn Davis; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Aldeen Jones; sister Billie Lloyd; and her grandson Johnathan Thomas.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with family present from 7 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Maple Street Baptist Church, 1552 Maple St., Des Moines, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time at the church. Diana will be laid to rest on Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Davenport, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for Colon Cancer Research.

We're hartbroken that we both cannot be there for Diana's Funeral. We'll miss her and have been Praying for Melvin and the family. She was always doing something for everyone. Always had the smile that glowed like a ray of sunshine.

To my dear daughter-in-law and family. I am sorry I am unable to attend the funeral of your mother. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Your mother was a lovely person and a very dear friend of mine. She will definately be missed. We loved her, but God loved her best. May God bless and keep you and your family through this difficult time. Love your Mother-in-law, Virginia Scott, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

What a blessing and honor it been for me to be a part of someone's life who accepted me as her own (son). I met mom almost 30 plus years ago in search of a job after coming out of college. I remember she had plenty of questions for me as I sat in her office. Like "what do what in life", "where do you see yourself in 5 years", "what kind of goals to you have set for yourself", ohhh and the questions kept coming. While she was taking me through the 3rd degree, she had that golden smile on her face. And I'm thinking to myself this woman is all in my Kool-aide. Mom was just a very caring person who always wanted the best for people, and to do all she could for people. But she made sure she got hers too (It's all about Di right now)! She had help me in very special way and we've stayed connected until the Lord called her home in heaven. And I pray that God willing I will see her again when I get there. And I know she'll be waiting for me in her office (And...I'm sure she'll have more questions). Blessings and Love to the whole family. I love you mom! your son Rick

I was saddened to get the message about the passing of Mrs. Lloyd. I know she will be missed but GOD will watch over her. She is with him and in his everlasting care. I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Lloyd after I was invited to spend Thanksgiving of 2008, with their family and friends. I felt special and was treated like a member of the family. I continue to Pray for the entire family. My thoughts and prayers will be with you althought I am unable to be present.

To: Uncle Melvin, Sherri, Mike, Madison and her Sisters. I want you know one thing my body will not be there but my heart and thoughts will. I first want to say Thank you God for letting you daughter be here for 65 years, and allowing her blessing be shared sometimes we didn't want to here then but she had a nice way of sliding them in and if she felt that you still wasn't getting it yes you know what was next.... " The Dianna Lloyd's family meetings" if you didn't WOW you must of been doing everything her way (smile). On this note I will chat with you guys, If want someone to listen to or talk with call me. God will help you all though this. I Love You
