Judy Lynn Furnoy, 51, went to Heaven to be with her Lord, on April 28, 2009. Judy was born and raised on the East side of Des Moines to William and Nancy Furnoy on January 7, 1958. She graduated from East High School. Out of school she worked for Iowa Power and Light Co., she then worked at the Printing Dept. for the State of Iowa and was a manager at Burger King. She was also employed by O’Reilley’s Auto Parts.
Judy loved animals, especially her beloved chow chows, Chief and Burt. Her other favorite pets were Jiggers and Rhett.
Judy loved her family and had always taken pride in baking her nephew, Garth, Jr., his favorite red velvet cake, something they both looked forward to.
Judy was dedicated to her church and her Lord, she had many friends. She went to Sunday Services and Celebrate Recovery at Grace Church. She participated in many church activities there and her favorite sayings were "Praise the Lord" and "Thank Jesus."
Judy will always be remembered for her strong belief in God’s love and mercy. She was most recently happy and excited to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday, looking beautiful and happy. It gives her family peace knowing she is free and with her Savior.
She will be mourned by her family including; her parents, William and Nancie Furnoy; her sister, Sue (Garth) Geitz of Altoona; her sister, Debbie (Jon) Turner of Runnells; nieces and nephews, Garth Geitz, Jr. of Pleasant Hill, Greg (Pam) Geitz of West Des Moines, Kristin and Karrie Turner of Altoona; her beloved great-nephew, Grayson Geitz and his mother, Emily Beattie of Des Moines. Her extended family includes; Pam and John Danks, Ronnie, Susan and Emma Danks, Dave, Nicole, Gabby and Maddie Roorda, Andrea Danks. Also, her friends; Scott, Stanley, Janet Rose, Michelle and her many friends at Grace Church.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her Auntie Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made in Judy’s name to Celebrate Recovery at Grace Church in Des Moines.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, May 4, 2009 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St in Des Moines, followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will occur from 11-1 prior to the service at the funeral home.
