Gary D. Hector

Gary Hector, age 83, passed away July 21, 2020, at the Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale, Iowa. He was born on February 15, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Margaret Cort and Donald Hector.

Gary graduated from Des Moines Tech High School in 1956 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 2 years until 1958. He retired from John Deere after 30 years.

Gary enjoyed playing cribbage, betting on horse races, playing pool, and was especially fond of his Lincoln Continentals.

Gary is survived by his sons, Michael Hector and Mark (Teri) Hector; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Donald.

Funeral services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines on Thursday, July 30, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. A private graveside service will take place at Glendale Cemetery.
