Joseph John Heather, Jr.

Joseph John Heather, Jr., 78, passed away July 19, 2020 at his home in Winterset.

Joseph was born September 16, 1941. He grew up in the SE bottoms of Des Moines. Joseph married Priscilla (Jean) Wolkenhauer March 1959. He was drafted in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1972. Following his service in the military, he worked various jobs. Joseph loved to fish, locally his favorite place was fishing off the Scott Street Bridge. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Joseph had a great sense of humor and enjoyed Sci-Fi movies. Later in life, he moved to Winterset.

Joseph is survived by his children, Vickie (Vernie) Hart of Madrid and Joe (Ellen) Heather, III of Mitchellville; grandchildren, Amy, Robert and Felecia; and his great-grandchildren, Rowan, David, Kaylee and Liam.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, Sr. and Barbara Heather; wife, Priscilla; and brother, Donald.

Joseph will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter at a later date.
