Allen Weston

Allen Weston, 80, passed away on July 17, 2020, at Fairmeadows Village in West Des Moines. He was born at the family home on September 11, 1939, the eldest of 7 children.
Allen graduated from Lincoln High School in 1958 and later from the Dale Carnegie Business Managers Course. He retired from John Deere after 25 years.
Allen met Connie Lee in 1988 and they were united in marriage on May 27, 1991. They recently celebrated 29 wonderful years together.
Allen loved traveling throughout Iowa and across the Midwest, and staying at small town bed and breakfasts. He also loved going to the movies, attending concerts, and going out to eat. Allen was an active member of AA in his younger years where he facilitated meetings at Lutheran Hospital and the Newton Correctional Facility.
In retirement, Allen loved biking, camping, and surfing the web, especially eBay. Above all else, he cherished his family and their time spent together.
Allen is survived by his loving wife, Connie; children, Allen Weston Jr., Sean Weston, Chris Weston, Caitlin (Chad) Zurfluh, and Jessie (Ben) Olson; step-children, Roger (Susan) Kline, Tina (Bob) Chapman, and Lisa (Dave) Narber; 24 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Nancy (Dale) Tomlinson, Jim (Sheryl) Weston, Jack (Bert) Weston, Jeanine (Ben) Tillitson, and Debbie (Dennis) Kain; the mothers of his children, Barbara Weston and Laurie Fontinel-Chapman, as well as other loving family and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Al (Betty) Weston and Connie (Doc) Duewall; sister, Judy Wadsworth, and grandson, James Shadden.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., with his service to begin at 2 p.m., on Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Debra Heights Wesleyan Church or UnityPoint Hospice in loving memory of Allen.
