Katheran Green

Katheran G. Green, 92, of Des Moines returned to her heavenly home on July 16, 2020, with her beloved children by her side.
Katheran was born the youngest of four girls on February 3, 1928, to William and Sarah Gilleran. She retired from the telephone company. After retirement she met the love of her life, Harry, they married and enjoyed traveling together. Katheran loved to listen to classic country music and Irish folk songs. She truly enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and meeting up for games, potlucks and coffee with her many friends at Fort Des Moines Senior Housing.
Katheran leaves behind her daughter, Andrea Moore (Jim); son, Bruce “Johnny” Waddell (Vicky); seven granddaughters, Lori Moore (Tony), Christina Nigon (Patrick), Jessica Waddell, Leslie Brose (Adam), Amber Waddell, Brandi Waddell and Bridgette Waddell; 13 great-grandchildren, Jon, Toni (James), Ashley, Max (Anna), Richard, Anthony, Charles, Vincent, Michael, Madison, Paige, Lainey and William; and five great-great-grandchildren, Xander, Michael, Aiden, Noah and Daniel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; great-granddaughter, Angel; parents, William and Sarah Gilleran; and her three sisters, Bernice, Mary and Margaret.
The family will greet friends Friday, July 31, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Katheran will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Otherwise known as Scotty to my beloved Aunt Katheran. She was also a big sister and at times a mother to us kids. She always took us to the movies. Especially Elvis. I recall her and my sister Mary listening to all his records. I will truly will miss her and never forget her generosity.

So sorry for your loss. She was an amazing outgoing woman . Loved by so many . I am blessed to have had her as my mother in law for a while .

Sorry for the loss if your amazing grandma Katheran. Will miss her sense of humor and fun times we all had on celebrations and events. We do have memories of the times with her and that says alot. Prayers to family and friends.
