Shirley J. Emary Hunt, 80, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
Shirley was born November 26, 1939 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Fred and Mildred Williams. She and her first husband, Glen Emary owned and operated Altoona Auto Electric for many years. Shirley later worked at the Elks Lodge in Pleasant Hill and the Military Exchange at Fort Des Moines. She was baptized into Christ June 23rd 2012. Shirley loved to read and spend time with her little dog, Foxy.
Shirley is survived by her children, Larry Emary, Karen Conger, Ron (Rebecca) Emary and Glen (Barb) Emary; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters; four brothers; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Glen Emary; second husband Kreigh Hunt; brother, Fred Williams; and her son, Johnny Ray Emary.
The family will greet friends Tuesday, July 21, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Shirley will be laid to rest at 12:30 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Shirley.

I always gave her a telephone call on her birthday. She will be missed by all who knew and considered her a friend or a relative.

So sorry to loose a friend at Beaverdale Estates. Shirley was a good friend to my mom while there and I enjoyed calling Shirley to keep up on what was going on. She will be missed.

Shirley used to baby sit me...LOL I always liked her. I remember as a young boy Shirley was a very attractive and tough lady who was always seen smoking a cigarette...LOL.
