Nancy Martin
July 13, 2020
Nancy Martin, 71, passed away July 13, 2020 at Taylor House.
Nancy was born September 9, 1948 in Jewell, Iowa to Norris and Shirley Wierson. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1966. Nancy was the Director of First Impressions at Kum & Go, a job she loved dearly. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa Hawkeyes and Des Moines Menace. Nancy loved spending time with her family, dancing, being out in the sunshine, taking her mother on road trips and you never had to ask her twice to go to a craft show. She also loved her dogs and grand dogs.
Nancy is survived by her children, Shelly (Garry) Smith and Chad (Jen) Hutchinson; grandchildren, Josh, Alex, Spencer, Allison and Chase; great-granddaughter, McKenna; mother, Shirley Post; brothers, Doug (Julie) Wierson and Keith Wierson; her Kum & Go family; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Norris Wierson and step-father, Norm Post.
The family will greet friends Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family encourages everyone to come in sports attire representing one of Nancy’s favorite teams.
Memorial contributions may be directed to University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in loving memory of Nancy.

Nancy brings back a lot of good memories. Nancy was lots of fun. It was fun to laugh with her. We have made a few rounds on the dance floor together many years ago.
I will miss her.

There is no one that will ever live up to their job title like Nancy. What a lucky employer Kum and Go was to have her. She will be greatly missed at that front door. Condolences to her family, this world needs more Nancy Martin's. She was the most kind person I ever knew.

There was never a bad day at the office when Nancy was around! Always had a smile on her face and loved everyone at the KGC. 15 years of being greeted by Nancy will always be one of the highlights of my time at the office. The best was I always got a message from Nancy when any of the former Hawkeyes would be in the building! :) Going to miss you "Nance!"

Nancy was an outstanding representative of the Kum & Go family. As a vendor, whenever we would arrive, she would greet us with a smile, a laugh, and her shining presence. We at Heartland Business Systems grieve with the family - both hers and the Kum & Go family. She was a treasure.

Nancy was the first person I met at Kum & Go. She always said to candidates as they walked out from interviews, as she took their name tags "Now this is the easy part" and every time it would make the candidate laugh and make me smile. She will be so missed but I will always think of her when I walk past the front desk. Rest in peace Nancy.
