John Daye

John H. Daye, 64, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at Mercy Hospital Medical. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2007 at Bethel AME Church. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
John loved to fish, cook, spend time with his children and read western books. He was also quite the avid bowler. John enjoyed going to the DAV. He spent a lot of time picking up pop cans and redeeming them, he referred to himself as the “Pop Can Connoisseur”. He retired from UPS in 2004 after 33 years of service.
John is survived by his wife, Geneva Daye; children, Gregory Daye, Helen (Jeffery Frizell) Daye and John D. Daye; close friends, Mary J. Hart, Kenneth and Katrina Bass; sister, Rosie L. McGregor; brother, Lewis H. (Patricia) Daye; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
