Susan Lynn Clark

Susan Lynn (Hoppler) Clark was called home to the Lord on June 28, 2020, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, due to heart disease. Susan will be missed by all who knew her for her wonderful ability to make those around her happy through her thoughtfulness and kindness. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to many - you are forever in our memories.
Susan moved to West Des Moines four years ago from Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly from Mission Viejo, California.
Susan was owner and operator of “A Creative Sweets Shoppe” in Valley Junction. Susan worked as a Retirement Planner for over 20 years in both California and Las Vegas helping many clients, friends, and family.
She is survived by her husband, Allan Clark, teacher at Lincoln High School in Des Moines; and children, Amelia (Alex) James and Ryan (Sean) Brown-Kohalmy; step-children, Logan Clark, A1C Daelin Clark (USAF), Jonathan (Tiffany) Clark, TSgt Anthony (McKenzie) Clark (USAF), and Daniel Clark; grandchildren, Madi Raethke, Wyatt Pellegrino, Wyatt Clark and Remington Clark. Susan is also survived by her mother, Mary Helen Ruffu of California; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Clark of Wisconsin; sisters, Diane (Mark) Schultz of Iowa, and Lynn (Keith) Parkes of Texas; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Wendell Hoppler.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 3301 Ashworth Road in West Des Moines. CDC regulations will be followed including wearing of masks and social distancing. In lieu of flowers, it was Susan’s wish that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Allan, my deepest Sympathies to you and Susan's family. We may not have been best friends, but she was very good to you and for that, I will miss her and I hope in time, you will find Peace. May she Rest in Peace, in the presence of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Amelia I was devastated when I heard about your mom! I know how close you are! I thought she was a sweetheart and always enjoyed her sweets and all her decorating ideas! She was a great lady and a lot of people will miss her. My heart aches for you Amelia I wish I could take away your pain! keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers!
