Joyce L. Kline
June 28, 2020
Joyce L. Kline, 72, went to heaven on June 28, 2020.
Joyce was born December 16, 1947 in Grand River, Iowa to Charles and Betty (Olson) Fitzgerald. She graduated from Tech High School, where she studied stenography. Joyce worked as an underwriter for an insurance company in downtown Des Moines. On April 22, 1967, she married George Kline. Joyce later worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Vacaville, California. Once George and Joyce started their family, she stayed home to raise their three sons. She loved collecting anything “strawberry” from home décor to knickknacks, she loved it all. Joyce enjoyed golfing, swimming, tennis, biking, softball, camping and most recently, traveling. She especially loved the time she and George spent in Branson, Missouri and the Smoky Mountains.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 53 years, George Kline; sons, Jeff (Jodie) Kline, John (Jill) Kline and Josh (Christina) Kline; mother, Betty Fitzgerald; siblings, Roger (Joyce) Fitzgerald, Kathy (Dick) Stradley and Steve (Laura) Fitzgerald; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a host of extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Fitzgerald.
The family will greet friends Monday, July 6, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Joyce will be laid to rest at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

Our deepest sympathy to the family. Joyce was such a wonderful woman. I enjoyed the times she and I spent in the concession stand while our boys played baseball. We wont forget her smiles and sincerity.

Condolences to the Kline family. I knew Joyce through my years of Little League baseball at South Des Moines Little League, and having George as my coach for a number of years. She was always smiling, bubbly, and always welcomed a large number of boys into her home after practice or during chalk talks (rainy days) --- wonderful person, fond memories of a great family. RIP Joyce. Prayers!
