May you rest in peace John, you were a friend and mentor for many years while we both served in the DIRLOG. We traveled many miles together to ensure that soldiers were fed while we fed more than a few mosquitoes in the process. Sometimes I believe we were further assisted in our efforts by an ever watchful Scooby Doo who would warn of danger with his trademark "Ruh Roh". Thanks for the memories John.

The only adults that called me "Dubs" (a nick name from HS). John & Sue Ann were ALWAYS kind, considerate, caring, you name it! Anything & everything that was good. Raised 2 great kids! What a man of great character. He set a great example for others to follow. Not many men like him. And, that's a shame. He will surely be missed by many.

My deepest condolences to Sue Ann and all of Johns family.
As I washed my car in my driveway today, my thoughts were back in the mid 60s and our group of guys including John. We were meticulous in keeping our cars shining but none more so than John. His 37(?) Chevy and then his 58 Chevy always reflected Johns appearance. And as his outside was flawless, his inside was even more so. Doris Jean and Frank raised him right. As we reconnected and talked later in life, I knew that he was following their lead with his own family.
So, Butch, save me a spot in the garage on the other side. We might even let in some of the Ford guys.

Sue Ann, John and I go back to the 224th Engineers in the '60s. They were good times for two young guys in the service of our Country and State. It's hard to believe it was that long ago. I'm sorry for John's struggle and his passing. I've joined many others in praying for you, him and your family. Take good care and be kind to yourself.
