Brian E. Rivera

Brian Esau Rivera, age 25, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.

Brian was born December 29, 1994 in New Long Island, NY to José and Elba Rivera. He attended East High School and was the secretary for Tree of Life Apostles & Prophets Church in Des Moines, where his father is the pastor. Brian was a car enthusiast. He was last employed as a detailer at Cars, Inc. in Des Moines. As a child, his favorite toy to play with was his fire truck and he dreamed of being a firefighter or a policeman. Brian had a good appetite and enjoyed eating anything and everything! He loved Mexican food and his favorite was tamales with beans. Brian loved to sing. He was a very giving person who would help anyone in need. He loved his family and was a people person who cared about everyone.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberli Rivera; son, Jared Rivera; parents, José and Elba Rivera; siblings, David Rivera and Sarvia Rivera; and grandmothers, Rosá Santos and Victoria Rivera.

Brian was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Juan Parada and Victor Rivera.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Tree of Life Apostles & Prophets Church, 2261 E Grand Ave, Des Moines. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2020 at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.
