Bon Chacon, 74, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on June 16, 2020. He was born in New Mexico on October 17, 1945 to Juan and Adonelia Chacon.
Bon proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist for Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines until his retirement. Bon was an avid sports fan. Some of his favorite teams were the Iowa Cubs, Iowa Hawkeyes and L.A. Dodgers. In his free time, he was a high school girls’ softball and little league umpire for many years. Bon also loved cooking enchiladas for his loyal customers.
Bon is survived by his daughter, Melissa (Diane) Chacon; son, Marc (Sabrina) Chacon; 2 grandchildren, Loren and Matthew Chacon; his partner, Lisa Roberts; his brothers Chi, Addy, Ben, Timo and Tommy as well as other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Adonelia, and his brothers Bernie and Desi.
There will be a celebration of his life held in Cañon Plaza, New Mexico at a later date.

Worked with Bon many times when I worked in ICU. Caught up when I saw him at Smart Honda about a year ago. Good manhe always spoke with pride about his family. God Bless

I was so very sorry to read the obituary of Bons death. He was such a fantastic person. I have such fond memories of teaching and coaching Melissa and Marc. Bon was always there to support us. I will miss him seeing him around to catch up on how his wonderful children were doing. He was so very proud of both of you.

Bon worked in our unit (NICU). He was always kind and he always had a smile. After he retired I saw him often in HyVee. Very polite. Last time I saw him he looked great. He will be missed.

Bon was our dear friend and was always part of our family. All the McCauley family will miss Bon and his friendship. There was only one Bon.
We are thankful for all the great years we spent with him and his beautiful family. Until we meet again may he Rest In Peace.
