Elaine Monaghan, 76, passed away at her home on June 14, 2020.
Elaine was born February 5, 1944. She retired from Iowa Dept. of Human Services, where she worked as a Medicaid Policy Specialist for many years. Elaine loved her cats. She enjoyed tending to her lush yard and beautiful wild flowers.
Elaine is survived by her son, Eric (Katherine) Roccasecca; granddaughter, Zoe Anne; brother, Larry Freed; as well as other loving relatives and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 25 years, John “Mike” Monaghan; sister, Janet; and her brother, Laverne “Butch”.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Cumming, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Elaine.

Eric, Katherine, Zoe and Larry,
We are so very sorry for your great loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you today at Elaines service and in the days ahead.
We were first cousins. Her dad (Harvey) and our mom (Abbie) were brother and sister.
Growing up we saw each other often attending the same school and living not far from each other.
My mom loved to make homemade caramels for Elaine at Christmastime because she knew your mom loved them. Special niece.

Eric & family, I'm very sorry to hear your mom has passed. Just heard about it at 8 pm tonight from brother Joe D. Jane & I are still in Wauconda, IL. Unfortunately we won't make the service tomorrow AM. Our prayers are with you and Katheryn. Hope we see each other in the not to distant furture.

Eric and family our prayers and loving thoughts are with you and your family.Iam a cousin of your moms and grew up very close to your mom .the last few years only saw at funerals and a reunion once . So never got to meet you but my sister and I want to send a memorial in memory of your Mom. So we are both giving to the animal rescue league. Her name is Peggy Mallon , Our Dad was Veldas brother.
