Benjamin Joseph Hitchcock, age 42, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his home in Des Moines.

Ben was born November 15, 1977 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attended Southeast Polk High School and graduated from Marshalltown High School. Ben went on to attend Iowa State University. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for six years. He worked primarily as a plumber. Ben was a sports fan and coached wrestling and football. He loved his red lab, Sammie. Ben loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked fishing, hunting, and camping. One of his favorite places on earth was Backbone State Park, where he made many happy memories.

Ben is survived by his sons, Lincoln Hitchcock of Des Moines, Justice Hitchcock of Iowa City, and Eli Hitchcock of Des Moines; siblings, William Hitchcock of Traer, Tiffany Mills of Nebraska, Amy Dost of Fargo, ND, and Frances Hitchcock of Altoona; his nephews, Cody and Cory Hitchcock of Tama; his former spouses, April and Audrey, both of Des Moines; and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Hitchcock and his brother, Cheyenne Hitchcock.

Cremation will occur and there will be no formal services held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Ben’s ashes will be scattered at Backbone State Park.
