Donna Katherine Backstrom, 82, passed away at UnityPoint Taylor House on June 8, 2020.
Donna was born September 16, 1937 in Waukee, Iowa to Herman and Martha Felder. She married Reed Backstrom on August 24, 1956, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Des Moines. Donna was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Clowns of America and Korn Patch Clowns.
Donna is survived by her children, Margie (Kirby) VanWey, Dave (Shelli) Backstrom, Teresa (Chris) Hoisington and Cindy Anderson; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Reed; grandson, Ben; son-in-law, Donald Anderson; and her brothers, Ronald and Joe Felder.
A private graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The graveside will be available to live stream below at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 20, 2020.
Memorial contributions may be directed to UnityPoint Taylor House Hospice.

So sorry to hear the passing of your mom. I really enjoyed working with her at Deluxe. She gave us Teresa's name for a short day care. We really enjoyed that too. (Hello Teresa and girls.) We will be thinking of all of you during this difficult time.

I worked with Donna at the downtown YWCA and Deluxe - she never had a mean word to say about anyone. She was always so proud of each and every one of you.

Im sorry to hear of Donna's passing. I knew her from working at Deluxe. She dearly loved her family as she always kept us up on what was happening with them. Prayers being said for comfort to the family.

We were so glad to see Donna last year while on vacation. Memories of Donna will always be the kind, sweet woman I met at a very young age.
