Terry Escher

Terry Jean Escher, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at her home in Ankeny.
Terry was born April 27, 1951 in Mason City, Iowa to Fred and Esther (Vaslick) Escher. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1969, and earned a degree in Leisure Activities from Iowa State University in 1973. Terry worked for the Army Corps of Engineers as a Park Ranger in Coralville, IA at Coralville Lake. Terry retired in 2017 at the age of 66. She enjoyed horseback riding and horse jumping. She rode with the Moingona Hunt and competed in Dressage and Hunter-Jumper classes. Horses figured in a large part of her life. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, drawing and painting, and spending time with her cat, Dickens.
She is survived by her sister, Sharon Kopps; niece, Melissa Freeze; her great-nieces, Lacey and Hanna and their families; uncle, Edward Willard; and many loving friends.
Terry was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Esther Escher.

I met Terry when we were Park Ranger interns in Arizona back in 1984. We kept in contact via letters and Facebook. She was a super great person. I'm so sad to hear of her passing. My sympathy to her family and friends.
