Colleen Bales, age 76, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on April 19, 1944 in Polk County, Iowa. Colleen lived in Iowa all of her life. She was the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy (Harrison) Fetters.
Colleen loved bowling, camping, boating and playing bingo. She especially enjoyed spending time with friends and family playing cards. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, John Tyler and Carol Bales; six grandchildren, Daniel Bales, Kyle Bales, Trisdan (Kayla) Bales, Jasmine Tyler (Chad West) , Aylissa Tyler (Marshawn Lacy), Shauna Tyler; and seven great-grandchildren.
Colleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marion Bales; son-law, Danny Bales; two brothers; one sister; and her parents.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, June 11th also, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Spry Cemetery, Runnells.

I am so glad I met Colleen through our bowling team. She was a kind and generous friend who made me smile. I will be missing her as will so many others. My prayers to the family.
