Richard Lee Harvey

Richard Lee Harvey, 90, a lifelong Iowan from the south side of Des Moines, passed away on May 17, 2020, at Glen Oaks Care Center in Urbandale. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 1, 1930, to Raymond and Elizabeth Harvey, the youngest of eight children.
Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a member of First Christian Church in Des Moines. Richard worked as a preneed funeral salesman for many years and enjoyed helping people throughout his lifetime.
He lived a long, full life, and was always there to lend a hand and share his bright smile. Richard will be remembered as Sparkle Eyes to his loving wife, Jeanne Harvey; and Ever Lovin’ Papa to daughters, Brenda Harvey, Tamara Harvey both of Des Moines, and Libby Harvey-Hill (husband Dana Hill) of Chicago; 5 grandchildren, Morgan, Ava, Griffin, Hannah and Cooper; 3 great-grandchildren, Nolan, Leo and Mila; his older sister, Evelyn Parker; and many loving family and friends.
A private graveside service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

So sorry to learn of Richard's passing. We miss seeing you folks since we have moved and only TJ lives in the neighborhood these days. We will miss Richard's ready smile and always-pleasant greeting. What a nice person.

We met Richard at Glen Oaks where Tom dad is also living . He was a very nice man and smiled every time we spoke to him . Will miss seeing his smiling face when we can go back in . Our thoughts and prayers are with the family
