Charles W. "Mick" Berst

Charles "Mick" Berst, 68, died of lung cancer at his home on Sunday, April 19, 2009. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Charles was a meat cutter at Veaches Fish Market and Dixon’s Wholesale Market. He was born December 6, 1940 in Little Turkey and moved to Des Moines in the early 1960's.
Charles leaves behind his son Michael; three daughters, Rhonda Hastings, Laura Risius and Kristi (Mark) Gering, all of Des Moines sisters, Valeria and Delores Franzen, both of New Hampton, IA;15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son David and daughter Vicki.
