Linda Hargrave

Linda Lee Rose Katherine, a precious child of God, was born November 8, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to Wilbur and Pearl Hargrave. Linda was Baptized, received her First Holy Communion, and Confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Des Moines. Linda graduated from East High School and worked for many years at a variety of jobs, such as Younkers, the State House, Des Moines General Hospital, Reed’s Ice Cream, and many other interesting places. She was a longtime active member of Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church where her Uncle Bill Broquist was a member and would bring her to worship each week. She sang in the Church Choir and very much enjoyed worship and the fellowship of believers.

Linda lived in the home where she was raised for over 60 years, and for a year enjoyed living at the Rose Assisted Living at 1331 Idaho. She then moved to the Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center where nursing staff and aides loved her mischievous sense of humor and humble gratefulness. Her pastors were always touched by Linda’s deep faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her deep desire to receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the forgiveness of her sins and everlasting life. Linda went home to be with her Lord and the Church Triumphant on May 11, 2020.

A funeral in thanksgiving for Linda will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2020 at Unity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1450 E 33rd Street, Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be held for one hour before the Worship Service begins. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery. Linda’s special friends and Church family will miss her so much. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her Uncle Bill. Left to grieve are her cousin, Sue Murphy, special friends include Linda Sparks and daughter Michelle Neer, Loretta Hansen, and Church friends Lavoy and Theo Haage, Rev. Diane Joseph and Rev. Donna Joseph. The Lord bless the memory of Linda Hargrave.
