Judith "Judy" Nipper
May 03, 2020
Judith Dianne (Luka) Nipper passed peacefully at home with her family by her side on Sunday, May 3.
Judy was born on September 2, 1936 to Dr. Leo Luka and Vera (Shutt) Luka. She lived in Des Moines her entire life and was a 1954 graduate of East High. In the following years, she was employed by Diamond Labs and eventually retired from Iowa Methodist Medical Center as a trauma services administrative secretary.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Lee (Evelyn) Luka; her children, Cricket Luka, Rebecca Nipper, Joe (Kirsten) Nipper, and Rex Jr. (Kim) Nipper; her grandchildren, Cassidy Conlan, Brandon (Sarah) Nipper, Jamison (Ann) Nipper, Matthew Nipper, Brooke (Brett) Robbins, and Peyton Nipper; two great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. Also missing her is her constant companion of the last 5 years, her dog, Taylor. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her ex-husband and friend, Rex Nipper Sr.
Judy enjoyed so many things throughout her life, including ice skating, creating wedding cakes, and monthly reunions with her graduating class. Judy was the life of the party in any social situation, and never stopped laughing and giving. Her loss is deeply felt by all who loved her. Our hearts are broken without you, “Geesy.” We love you.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a celebration of Judy’s life at a later date.

Nipper Family,
My heart hurts and goes out to your family. Im sorry to hear the news. No words can express what your mom meant to me growing up. Your home was always open to anyone in the neighborhood. It was great to see Judy at the Cotters gathering a while back.
God bless you all.
Peace,
