Willard E. Knight
May 02, 2020
Willard Earl Knight, age 74, passed away Tuesday, April 28th, 2020 at his home in Bondurant.
Willard was born October 23, 1945 in Atlantic, Iowa to Willard and Marjorie (Heath) Knight. He was one of twelve children. He married Peggy Scott and to this union two children were born: Julie and Willard Jr. After he and Peggy divorced, he spent many years with Bev Hyslope. Willard loved being outdoors hunting and fishing. One of his greatest passions was football. He knew all the statistics and could tell you anything you would want to know. Willard also enjoyed going to casinos.
He was a very proud, hardworking man. He began working immediately after high school. He always believed that the first impression was everything so he would give you a firm handshake and look you right in the eye. He liked being a little flashy, but not too much. Morals, scruples, and standards where important to Willard and he always had the right answer.
He is survived by his daughter Julie Knight of Des Moines, son Willard Knight Jr. of Des Moines, son Donald “Hank” Anderson of Des Moines; sisters Marge Walzer of Perry, Gloria Strang of Elko, NV, Ruth (James) Norton of Altoona, and Jo Beth (Dan) Chittenden of Grand Junction, CO; brother David (Nancy) Knight of Ames, IA; grandchildren, Justan, Benn-E, James, Curtis, Kaylee, Josh, Erin, and Everly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Marjorie Knight; step-father Clifford Grother; brothers Norman and Dickie; and sisters Shirley, Joyce, Sharon and Linda.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no services at this time. Family will gather at a later time to celebrate his life.

To say good bye to my Big Brother. We only spoke a couple weeks ago- was a nice long conversation - we talked about Grandpa Heath and so many other other things. Glad to hear you say I love you one more time and I to you.
Rest In Peace Big Brother Rest In Peace.
The Broken Chain Poem
We little knew that day,
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death, we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide.
And although we cannot see you,
You are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.
