Cammy Hayes

Cammy Christine Hayes, age 56, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Cammy was born July 11, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa to Donald and Dorinne DeGroote. She was the oldest of five siblings. She attended Lincoln High School and enjoyed dancing when she was younger, especially jazz dance. After graduation, Cammy lived the life of a free spirit. She has lived in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Indiana, and North Carolina, in addition to Iowa. Cammy loved being around her family and friends. She adored her nieces and nephews and all of her pets. She was a wonderful cook and loved trying new food. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her siblings, Miles (Julie) DeGroote, Tracy (Jason) Lehmann, Wade DeGroote, and Bobbie (Mark) Kraber; her nieces and nephews, Jordan (Stacey) Chidester, Luke Lehmann, Jacob Morton, Jaylee Kraber, Mark Kraber Jr., and Nate Kraber; and her cat, Lola.

Cammy was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Hayes; mother, Dorinne DeGroote; father, Donald DeGroote; and numerous aunts and uncles.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Cammy.
