John "Jack" Allen

Jack Allen, 87, passed away May 3, 2020, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny.
Jack was born July 4, 1932 in Algona, Iowa to James and Bernadine Allen. He served in the US Army. Following his military service, he lived in Athens, Greece for 2 years, then moved to London, England for 15 years. While living in London, he worked as a teacher. Jack returned to the states to care for his mother. He later went to work for Budget Marketing where he worked as a customer service representative until his retirement in 1996. Jack was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church Ames, Iowa. He enjoyed opera music, traveling and dining out.
Jack is survived by his longtime companion, Lacy Blaine and good friend, Bill Baldus.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2020, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions limiting gatherings to 10 people or less, guests will be asked to rotate in and out of the building accordingly.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Jack.

Mr. Allen was my teacher for a couple of classes in 1960-61 at Tama IA. He was great fun, a great listener and I enjoyed his classes immensely. He visited me once after I was married and had a child. We spent the entire visit laughing. I have great memories.

Lacy: I have so many memories of Jack and of his quit wit! He has often crossed my mind over the years. Wishing you peace and comfort. HUGS!

So Sorry to see John (Jack's Allen's Obiturary in the paper this morning. He was a good friend and Co worker for several years.He will be missed!
