Mary "Tish" Fazio
May 04, 2020
Mary “Tish” Fazio, 85, passed away May 4, 2020 at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center.
Tish was born April 27, 1935 in Des Moines to Dominic and Frances Marasco. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially Italian cookies. Tish was the life of the party and loved hosting holiday dinners. She enjoyed fine dining and traveling with her husband Sam. She was grateful for her wonderful neighbors, especially Anna, Becky and Chris. Their love and friendship was a big part of her life. She was “Aunt Tish” to many nieces and nephews. She cherished those relationships and each one held a special place in her heart. Her brother Bobby and sister-in-law Donna were never far from her mind. They looked after each other through out their entire lives. Tish lived for her grandkids and loved spending time with all of her family. She was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Tish was also a member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.
Tish is survived by her daughter, MaryFran (John) Cardamone; grandchildren, Natalie (Tony) Brown, Sammy Cardamone and Christina Cardamone; great-grandchildren, Charlie Rose Brown and Jaxson Brown; brother, Bobby (Donna) Marasco; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Fazio; son, Sammy Joe Fazio; and her siblings, Vergida Vonk, Peter Marasco and Ned Marasco.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions limiting public gatherings to 10 people or less, Tish’s Visitation and Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church or Hospice of the Midwest in loving memory of Tish.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to their cousin, Theresa Ann Weston. Her devotion and tender care over the last 2 years of Tish’s life will never be forgotten. A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at the Iowa Jewish Life Senior Center. The family will always be grateful for their compassionate care and dedication. Also, a special thank you to Tish’s Hospice nurse Erin and CNA Morgan for the exceptional care she received.

Many fond memories of growing up
with Tish and Bobby along Jackson Ave. near the old Fifth Street Bridge. Later Sammy and I played in the Dowling band and I enjoyed playing many gigs at the Stem with Sam Fazio and the Spotlight Serenaders. Jeannine and I pray
that the peace and joy of the
Resurrection will comfort all of Tishs family and friends in this time of sorrow.

My memory of Tish goes back many years to when she worked at Michaels. She was such a joy, always laughing, always smiling. My sister Meredith worked for her husband Sam at Fazio Brokerage for many years. Sam and Tish were good friends of my sister and always treated her like a part of the family. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Fazio and Marasco family.

I work in the infant room and Boulevard Children's Center which is in with the Jewish Life Center where Tish was and I'll always remember her coming and sitting by our window and watching the babies, she loved them so much!!! Especially when they waved back at her...I will miss seeing her at our window and my sympathy goes out to her daughter and the rest of her family.

Tish was one great lady, she was a hard worker and she was a joy to be around. Alfonso enjoyed tailoring her outfits over the years. Sharp dressed and spunking attitude, that's what we will always remember. May she rest in peace, and our deepest sympathy to Mary Fran and John and your family.

Mary Fran and Families,
I so enjoyed getting to know Tish at daily mass over the years. Both she and Sarah Graziano were so kind to me, allowing me the honor to share the rosary with them before mass. May eternal rest grant unto her oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of the faithfully departed thru the mercy of God...rest in peace. Amen Now the legacy of love from your parents lives on thru you and your beautiful family.
Sincerely,
