Roxanne Lewis

Roxanne Ethel Lewis, 57, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Roxanne was born February 19, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa to John H. Lewis III and Leota Belcher. She graduated from Saydel High School. She worked at Prairie Meadows and as a manager at Shoney’s Restaurant for many years. Roxanne had a loving heart and was a free spirit. She had a good soul and she loved anything tie dye and collected smiley faces. Roxanne was an animal lover, and her dog Odie held a special place in her heart. Above all, her family meant everything to her and she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Her greatest joy in life was being a Nana.

She is survived by her children, Russell Ozimek Jr. (Katie) and Amanda Cockerham (Teddy); siblings, Jeff Lewis (Donna), Jordan Lewis (Alex), LaRae Bryant (Tim), and Jessica Cochran (Mark); step-mother, Jolene Lewis; her beloved grandchildren: Logan “Angel” Cockerham, Mariah “Weezer” Cockerham, Madison “Babs” Ozimek, and Kolin “Bubs” Ozimek; her long-time companion, Tim Scovel; numerous step-siblings, nieces nephews, and other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-father.

There will be a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2020 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines. Graveside service will be Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines at 11:00 a.m.
