Lucille Gertrude Mathiesen

Lucille G. Mathiesen, 76, passed away on April 29, 2020, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Oelwein, Iowa on May 9, 1943, to Francis “Foxy” and Helen Rogge.

Lucille attended high school at Sacred Heart in Oelwein, Iowa graduating in the class of 1961. She married Lyle Richard Mathiesen in 1964 at Sacred Heart Church. Lucille volunteered at the Saylor Township Fire Department for 18 years. She enjoyed cooking, puzzles, reading the National Enquirer magazine, spending time with her pets and taking care of her grandchildren when they were young.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Carrie Mathiesen; sons, Matt Mathiesen and Kevin (Kamala) Mathiesen; 2 grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Ryan) Kelley and Kyle Mathiesen; brother, Robert Rogge; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997; parents; and brother, Gerald Rogge.

Private graveside services will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery.

I knew Lucille while I was married to her brother, Bob. We got along great, and had a lot of fun. She and her husband used to babysit my 5 children sometimes. She was a very nice person!
